FAQs

Are you Licenced Waste Carriers and will I receive any paperwork?

Roupcycle is a Licenced Waste Carrier (CBDU80126) registered with the Environment Agency, UK. Licenced as a Scrap Metal Yard & Collector with Hart Council.  Our public liability policy is with a specialist provider for the waste and recycling industry.

Roupcycle will issue you with a waste transfer note (job card) on completion of your clearance.  This will have images of the waste removed, vehicle registration, the licenced disposal site it was taken to and the name of the collector.  Roupcycle will receive a waste transfer note from the disposal site, so there is a full paper trail.

How much does a rubbish removal cost?

Prices depend on the volume (and/or weight) of waste collected.  We have priced waste collections in cubic yards the same as skip hire.  One cubic yard is the size of a bulk bag (you may have seen building materials delivered in these bags).  4 cubic yards is equal to a small skip, 6/7 cubic yards is the same as the typical skip you see on most driveways.

Rubbish removal costs include an allocated labour time on site and disposal costs.

Additional costs for mattresses, tyres, fridges, and some other items will be a direct cost from the waste transfer station to cover higher recycling rates. Roupcycle pays a rate for disposal by weight, therefore there may be additional charges for heavy waste.

If you are unsure, please send us a photo and a description of what you have to go.

What is a wait and load service?

A wait & load collection is especially popular with strip-out and refurbishment.  Often commercial or trade customers require this service for a quick turn around of rubbish removal or unable to get a skip on site.

Roupcycle provides a collector and a time on site.  The minimum is 7 cubic yards / 500kg (half a van) for 30 minutes on site.  We will of course help loading but labour on site is required.

How do you quote a house clearance?

As a rule of thumb, plan for a van load per bedroom in the house.  These are many factors that can affect the price, is the property cluttered or is it very neat? For a flat clearance, what floor level is it on?  Are items in the garden, shed and garage to go?  Have tins of food, crockery and clothing been removed from draws, cupboards and wardrobes?

A member of the Roupcycle team would be more that happy to arrange a site visit and talk you through the process.

The save money we advise that you try to dispose of items for free (or make a bit of money back) by donating, listing on social marketplaces or use various selling platforms available.  Unfortunately, Roupcycle does not buy items nor sell furniture on behalf of our customers. We would also be unable to offer a van service to deliver large items.  Roupcycle can assist with putting you in touch with ‘man and van’ delivery companies as well as various charities.

Will you price match the council furniture collection price?

Unfortunately, not.  It is not a like for like service.  We do not ask you to leave the item(s) on the end of the driveway on a specific day. Roupcycle provides an on-demand service with a same day or next day collection.  We can provide a two-person team to assist removing items out of the home.  Our disposal costs are also not subsidised by council tax; therefore, we pay a higher disposal rate.

Is a van collection cheaper than a skip?

It is cheaper to use a ‘man and van’ style service for a bulky waste collection such as a declutter, house or garage clearance.  The shape of a skip can leave void spaces when filling it with bulky items such as furniture. You must not overfill a skip so should you have more waste you will need to arrange an exchange. Should you arrange a van collection and have more waste, this is no problem, we can charge accordingly.

Skip hire is ideal for heavy dense building or landscaping waste. With the van collections, the disposal company pay a waste transfer station according to the weight of the load.  With skip hire you pay the same price if there is 500kg in the skip or 5 tonne.
